Personal Support Worker/Caregiver

Rural Home Care is a private home care company supporting seniors, adults, children, persons with Alzheimer's disease, persons with mental health disabilities, persons with intellectual disabilities, females, males, persons with a disability in Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth and Wellington counties.

The Personal Support Worker/Caregiver, provides personal care services to clients and assists clients with the activities of daily living as described in the care plan,

Duties and Responsibilities

Administer bedside and personal care
Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker/Caregiver
Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
Assist with regular exercises, e.g walks
Feed or assist in feeding
Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
Launder clothing and household linens
Provide Companionship
Shop for food and household supplies
Prepare and serve nutritious meals
Cook
Observe and document client conditions according to company standards; report unusual events or changes in the client’s condition to the Office
Understands and implements infection prevention practices
Adhere to Rural Home Care Policies and Procedures.
Maintains confidentiality of client and discuss only with appropriate personnel.
Complete other tasks as requested.,

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Able to stand, bend, squat and kneel
Able to lift between 45-60 kg; able to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions as related to client care
Ability to travel locally from client to client
