Full job description

Under Sun Acres is a greenhouse operation located in Staples, Ontario that produces sweet bell peppers. We are at the cutting edge of technology operating a cogeneration system, closed loop water supply/filtration system, and more. Our in-house entomologist and research team of scientists and engineers allows Under Sun Acres to cultivate innovative ideas and push technological barriers. We believe we are a leading example of modern greenhouse life.

We are looking for a responsible and reliable candidate to fill our Accounting Assistant position. This is a key position within our accounting team and will be responsible for common accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end closing, preparation of various reports and other miscellaneous company activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices. The incumbent will report directly to the Financial Controller.

Job Duties:

· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, payments, reconciliations, collections, and vendor communications.

· Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and financial record keeping.

· Maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, and accounting records while collaborating with operations to ensure data integrity.

· Support payroll, procurement, and other accounting functions through cross-training and departmental backup.

· Maintain organized filing systems and continuously improve document management and administrative workflows.

· Assist with reporting, audit preparation, and special projects, including process automation and cost-saving initiatives.

· Provide administrative support, complete general office duties, and perform additional tasks as assigned to support business operations.

Qualifications:

· Post-secondary education in Accounting or a related field.

· Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.

· Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and bookkeeping principles.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and time management skills.

· Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities while working independently and as part of a team.

Salary:

$20 – $24 per hour

Full-Time

Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5PM
