Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to join our team and create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children during the summer months. This role involves supervising campers, organizing activities, and fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages learning and social development. Ideal candidates are energetic, compassionate, and enjoy working with children of various ages. Previous experience in childcare or camp settings is a plus but not required; training will be provided.

Duties

Supervise and ensure the safety of children participating in camp activities throughout the day
Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational activities, games, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises
Assist with setting up activity stations and preparing materials needed for daily programs
Foster a positive environment by encouraging teamwork, respect, and inclusivity among campers
Enforce camp rules and policies to maintain a safe and organized setting
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and campers regarding daily activities and any concerns
Support campers with personal needs as necessary, promoting independence and confidence
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to ensure quality programming

Experience

Prior experience working with children in camps, daycare centers, schools, or community programs is preferred but not mandatory
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with children and build rapport
Ability to organize activities that are age-appropriate, engaging, and educational
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and parents
Demonstrated responsibility, patience, and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 10 weeks

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

Brampton, ON L6T 5H1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:

Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

Working with children: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

First Aid Certification (preferred)

Work Location: In person
