The role — at a glance

We’re hiring a Store Manager to own day-to-day operations and help grow our Willow Street location as a community hub in Chemainus. This is a hands-on, multi-discipline operations and leadership role focused on improving sales, quality, consistency, and profitability while supporting our front of house staff and our kitchen staff.

Reporting: Reports to the company District Manager and Operations Manager.

Base: Chemainus, North Cowichan, BC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains store staff by recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, developing and encouraging individuals to become members of the team, ensuring excellent customer service.
Manage staff though hiring, training, motivating, encouraging, and challenging cafe staff to provide excellent service to patrons.
Discipline staff when necessary, up to and including termination.
Consult with HR when needed.
Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning tasks to employees, then following up on work results
Resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner notifying upper management when necessary.
Implement and enforce established daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and well kept.
Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed in a safe manner.
Supervise and coach all store employees according to company policy.
Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner
Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and write offs daily.
Conduct store meetings as needed with employees.
Have the physical ability to perform all duties of a store cashier regularly.
Follow and enforce all Company Policies & Established Procedures in the Policy & Procedure Manual; communicate these policies and procedures to staff
Implement monthly promotions, ensure all POS advertising/signage is properly posted at the proper time.
Communicate and perform all price change requests and mark downs / ups as requested by management.
Enforce all safety and security procedures and report any and all unsafe conditions to your District Manager and/or the Human Resource Manager.
Conduct regular Health & Safety Meetings and document with employees attending signatures.
Report and process all employee and/ or customer incidents or accidents, following company procedure.
Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Delegate duties and tasks to assistant manager, supervisors and clerks, to meet objectives and maximize resources
Organize and adjust staff schedules as needed in accordance with available resources and labour budget
Stay up to date on cigarette & tobacco legislation as set out by the provincial government
Evaluate inventory levels and all supplier outdates
Other duties as directed

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to District Manager, Operations Manager, Company CFO, Owner
Liaise internally with the other members of the General Stores Team

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
Ability to maintain professionalism in all communication with staff, customers, and upper management

Able to communicate effectively both orally and written
Able to maintain composure under pressure
Able to establish priorities and monitor workflow in areas of responsibility

Demonstrate ability to work on till with minor or no cash outages
Demonstrate ability to complete daily, till and paperwork
Demonstrate ability to delegate and lead six or more people at a time
Demonstrated computer literacy (Microsoft Office) with good working knowledge of spreadsheets and data entry

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
