About Us

Five Star Paving is a family-owned and operated company based in Victoria, BC, proudly serving Greater Victoria and surrounding areas with reliable and professional asphalt and concrete services. With steady growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are expanding our team and looking for dedicated professionals to join us.

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Equipment Operator to join our crew. This role involves a combination of equipment operation and physical labour to support a wide range of paving and ground preparation projects.

We’re not looking to fill a position — we’re looking for the right candidate who brings proven skill, takes pride in their work, and wants to grow with the company.

Duties

Set accurate grades for paving and ground preparation — strong knowledge of grades and elevations.
Operate heavy machinery including skid steers, excavators, graders, and rollers.
Perform hand labour where required using rakes, shovels, and plate tamps to achieve site results.
Conduct routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with team members to execute project plans effectively and efficiently.
Conduct site assessments and prepare equipment for operation based on project needs.
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Occasionally work on paving crew when staffing needs require.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in setting grades
Experience operating heavy equipment (skid steers, excavators, graders, rollers) preferred.
Comfortable with physical labour in outdoor environments.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Class 3 or 1 license considered an Asset
Previous paving or ground prep experience considered an asset.
