Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company in the world, operating a fleet of 70 specialized aircraft to fight forest fires. We are aerospace engineering experts, creating 15 different airtanker types, converting hundreds of aircraft into airtankers. We are aviation maintenance experts, performing repair, maintenance and overhaul on our fleet. And we are operators, providing airtankers, crew and maintenance on contract over fire seasons to government agencies including Canada, the US, Australia and France. We are seeking a candidate for the role of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Technician. This position supports the organization’s health and safety program through inspections, hazard identification, incident investigations, training support, and ongoing promotion of safe work practices.
The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious employee with strong communication skills, operational knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees and supervisors at all levels. This is an excellent opportunity for an employee interested in developing a career or competencies in occupational health and safety.
In this role your duties will include the following:

Conduct workplace inspections and identify hazards or unsafe conditions
Assist with incident and near-miss investigations
Support corrective action tracking and follow-up
Promote safe work practices and compliance with company policies
Participate in risk assessments and hazard evaluations
Assist in maintaining safety documentation and records
Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training activities
Monitor use of PPE and safe work procedures
Participate in emergency preparedness activities and drills
Work collaboratively with supervisors, employees, and the safety committees

Knowledge of company safety procedures and applicable regulations
Ability to identify risks and recommend practical solutions

Comfortable speaking with employees, supervisors, and contractors

Ability to investigate issues objectively
Strong observation and analytical skills
Ability to prioritize and follow through on corrective actions

Ability to maintain confidentiality when required

Organization & Administration

Accurate documentation and recordkeeping skills
Attention to detail
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or equivalent)

The requirements for this role include:

Experience in operations, maintenance, manufacturing, logistics, or related field
A valid driver’s license and passport
Previous leadership, mentoring, or training experience (considered an asset)
Participation in safety committees or safety initiatives (considered an asset)
First Aid certification (considered an asset)
Health & Safety training or certification (considered an asset)

Equivalent combinations of experience, training, and demonstrated safety leadership will be considered.
