Corporate/Commercial Associate

Wilson Rasmussen LLP is a leading law firm with offices in Surrey and Ladner, serving clients throughout the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver for more than 30 years. We provide legal services in the areas of real estate, commercial lending, property development, business law, corporate law, wills and estates, and family law.

We are seeking a Corporate/Commercial Associate with a minimum of two years of relevant experience to join our commercial lending and corporate/commercial practice in Surrey.

Our diverse team of lawyers, legal assistants, paralegals, legal administrative assistants, and support staff work collaboratively and are respected and valued for their individual contributions.

Our corporate/commercial practice includes commercial lending and banking, business acquisitions and divestitures, commercial real estate and property development, corporate reorganizations, and corporate governance.

The Opportunity

Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic corporate/commercial lawyer with experience in commercial lending and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, effective practice management skills, and a pragmatic, client-focused approach.

The successful candidate will receive close mentorship from senior lawyers within the practice group and will have the opportunity to work directly with partners who take an active role in mentoring and developing associates. At the same time, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage their own files and develop their own practice with the support and resources of the firm.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

Be a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia;
Have approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience practising law in British Columbia;
Have a client-focused mindset, strong analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail and accuracy;
Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to solve complex legal and business problems;
Be personable, hardworking, and entrepreneurial, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and
Demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a long-term practice in corporate/commercial law.
