Job Summary:
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for managing the accurate flow of materials, product, and documentation across inbound receiving, production supply, and outbound shipping operations. This role ensures raw materials are received, verified, staged, and supplied efficiently to production while maintaining strict inventory control, traceability, and food safety standards.
The position plays a critical role in supporting production throughput, preventing delays, and ensuring all shipments meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This position is accountable for verifying documentation, maintaining system accuracy, supporting line efficiency, and ensuring that all product movements are executed safely, accurately, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and verify inbound raw fish and materials against purchase orders.
- Record weights, lot codes, supplier details, and temperatures at time of receipt.
- Stage and supply raw fish to production lines based on daily production schedule.
- Set up and prepare necessary machinery and material flow to support efficient line start-up.
- Monitor raw material flow to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Adjust supply pacing to support throughput targets established by Supervisor/Production Manager.
- Assist production staff where required to maintain efficiency and meet throughput standards.
- Identify bottlenecks in material flow and proactively escalate or correct.
- Operate scan guns to accurately consume raw materials and produce finished goods in ERP system.
- Print and apply labels for raw and finished goods in accordance with traceability requirements.
- Ensure all product movements are scanned and recorded in real time.
- Maintain strict lot code accuracy and FIFO compliance.
- Prepare outbound shipments ensuring correct product, weights, labeling, and documentation.
- Verify completed production quantities against system output.
- Review, verify, and sign off on all inbound shipments ensuring Bills of Lading (BOLs), counts, product descriptions, and condition match received goods.
- Investigate and report discrepancies, shortages, or damages immediately to Supervisor and QA.
- Generate and issue outbound Bills of Lading and shipping documentation based on finalized load sheets and customer orders.
- Ensure all shipment documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and traceability requirements.
- Load trucks according to load plans and truck tallies while verifying: Correct product. Accurate counts, Proper lot codes, Matching descriptions
- Confirm pallet integrity, wrapping standards, and load stability prior to release.
- Perform final verification that shipped quantities match order requirements and system records before truck departure.
- Wash and sanitize fish totes, bins, and handling equipment in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assemble boxes and packaging materials to support production and shipping requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard, dock, and surrounding operational areas.
- Conduct routine counts of packaging supplies and report shortages to Supervisor.
- Prepare and fill totes with ice to support receiving, storage, and production needs.
- Assist with general plant and warehouse support tasks as required to maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year forklift operating experience.

- Able to receive and follow instructions.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, food production, or logistics operations preferred.
- Experience in a food manufacturing or cold storage environment is considered an asset.
- Forklift certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Experience operating ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS) required; familiarity with scan guns and inventory transactions preferred.
- Working knowledge of Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping documentation, and inventory reconciliation processes.
- Understanding of FIFO, lot control, and traceability standards.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and system transactions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to cold, wet, and noisy environments.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime during peak seasons.
- Working Hours : Monday to Friday 12:00 PM–8:00 PM / 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 p.m. to completion (end time varies based on workload) / Sunday 8am to 3pm at the discretion of the supervisor to meet the business needs.
