Under the direction of the Manager, Non-Invasive Diagnostic Cardiology and Outpatients Clinics, the Registered Practical Nurse assists patients and families to develop an understanding of the health condition by promoting the use of social, emotional and spiritual supports to cope with the condition. In clinic, the Registered Practical Nurse will perform basic vital signs including (but not limited to) height, weight, blood pressure and medication history. In the Echo Lab, the Registered Practical Nurse will perform Venipuncture and be responsible for assisting cardiac sonographers to perform contrast enhanced echocardiograms as per ASE guidelines.

Regular Part-Time

Rate of Pay: $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour

Part-time employees receive a percentage in lieu of vacation and benefits, providing additional compensation on top of regular wages

Hours of work: No guarantee of hours

Part-time employees will have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on unit operational needs and availability

Qualifications

Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
Successful completion of IV insertion course
Minimum two (2) years recent, related nursing experience
Required Clinical experience in Cardiology, specifically to Non-Invasive Diagnostic Cardiology procedures
Preferred clinical experience in Ambulatory Clinics including but not limited to Medicine, Emergency Care and/or Surgery
Experience in minor procedures using aseptic technique
Well-developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in a busy environment
Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload
Commitment to the achievement of goals and objectives in patient care
Proven problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
