Responsibilities

The Research Collaboration Coordinator supports two core functions within Schulich's research enterprise: coordinating team-based research grant applications, and coordinating mentorship for researchers who are early in their research careers. This position provides centralized support to research centres, research groups, and individual researchers pursuing large-scale, multi-investigator funding by identifying suitable funding opportunities, assembling and supporting multidisciplinary teams, project managing applications from concept through submission, and helping broker collaborative, fundable initiatives across centres and groups. On the mentorship side, the Coordinator connects researchers early in their careers with mentorship structures such as communities of practice and grant-writing groups, linking them with senior mentors and grant development supports independent of centre or group affiliation. Across both functions, the Coordinator delivers researcher-focused events supporting team-grant readiness, mentorship, or both, and works closely with Centre Directors, group leaders, the Assistant Dean, Translational Research and the Director of Schulich Research Operations.

Education
Minimum Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Education, Public Administration, Business, or relevant discipline

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Health Administration, Education, or Research Management or relevant discipline would be an asset

Experience
Minimum Required:

3 years of experience in coordination, academic program support, or strategic project management within a university, healthcare, or research setting
Demonstrated experience facilitating collaborative initiatives, coordinating grant development, and supporting interdisciplinary teams
Experience organizing workshops, planning sessions, or academic events with multiple stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes

Familiarity with techniques for planning, managing and coordinating multiple projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment
Knowledge of research funding processes, grant writing, and institutional research support services
Familiarity with University research policies and practices would be an asset
Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines, including planning, execution, and reporting
Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and institutional partners
High level of organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy is maintained through the appropriate retention and destruction of information
Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
Ability to display a blend of diplomacy and persistency to achieve goals while working collaboratively
Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
