Title: Business Support Officer - Risk & Assurance

Salary: $4,994.11 – $5,875.42 per month

Location: 1645 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg MB.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Risk & Assurance This position is responsible for maintaining the collective insurance program which include the administrative tasks with the annual renewal, along with managing any insurance claims that arise. The position works collaboratively with other Home Office departments in the completion of feasibility studies for projects throughout the Federation.

This position also is involved in assessing risk and in ensuring appropriate procedures and processes are in place to identify, quantify, and address existing and emerging risks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the administration of the insurance program and provide guidance and support throughout the insurance claims process.
Analyze business opportunities for the Co-op system including expansion projects, acquisitions, new retail buildings, hotels, restaurants, etc.
Provide financial options for projects and provide recommendations to management on the feasibility of a proposed project.
Reconcile Risk & Assurance General Ledger accounts and collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
Prepare Board materials to support capital expenditure (CAPEX) and loan applications for capital projects.
Policy and procedure development designed to protect the Co-ops assets and profitability as it relates to the sustainment of the Co-op.
Work in a team environment to provide audit, analytical and administrative support;
Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
A specialization or major in accounting is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience may be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial statements with the ability to conduct in-depth financial analysis required.
High level of integrity with the ability to keep confidential information secure.
Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Superior knowledge of office productivity software, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and related packages.
Superior written communication skills.
Proven commitment to personal growth and development.
Superior organizational skills and ability to work within tight timeframes and meet deadlines.
Strong work ethic, self managed with demonstrated ability to work independently as well as participate effectively in a team environment.
Ability to travel as required.
