About the Role
We are looking for a Warehouse Manager at our Ottawa office to lead and oversee all warehouse and delivery support functions. This role is responsible for driving operational performance, ensuring service levels are met, and managing team execution within a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, staging, and dispatch of shipments to ensure timely and accurate execution of daily workflows
- Coordinate routing, scheduling, and overall driver performance to support on-time deliveries and efficient last-mile operations
- Manage high-volume parcel and freight operations with strict service-level deadlines
- Ensure inbound freight is received, scanned, sorted, staged, and dispatched within operational cut-off times
- Drive dock productivity, sort efficiency, scan compliance, and shipment accuracy
- Maintain operational flow during peak periods and fluctuating daily volumes
- Establish, maintain, and enforce operational standards and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and accountability across all shifts
- Maintain inventory accuracy through oversight of tracking processes, cycle counts, and resolution of discrepancies
- Lead, develop, and manage warehouse staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and compliance with company policies
- Oversee freight receiving controls, shipment verification, and discrepancy resolution
- Ensure proper chain-of-custody and scanning procedures are followed
- Manage freight claims, shortages, damages, and exception reporting
- Implement dock controls to minimize shipment loss and misroutes
- Monitor and report on key operational performance metrics, including service levels, labour hours, delivery performance, and cost efficiency
- Investigate and resolve issues related to lost, delayed, or damaged shipments, implementing corrective and preventive actions as required
- Manage escalated operational and customer-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate follow-up actions
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards, including incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action implementation
- Develop, improve, and maintain warehouse systems and workflows, including inventory management processes, operational documentation, and workflow optimization
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall service delivery
- Manage labour planning and scheduling to align staffing with operational demand
- Monitor overtime, productivity, and labour efficiency metrics
- Support hiring and workforce planning during peak operational periods
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing warehouse performance, productivity, and service quality.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years logistics/warehouse experience
- 3–5 years leadership experience
- Experience in parcel, courier, LTL, or cross-dock operations strongly preferred
- Experience managing high shipment volumes
- Experience implementing WMS/process improvements
Work Environment
- Warehouse-based role with active, hands-on operational involvement
- Fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment
- May require occasional evening or weekend support
