Full job description

Summary

As a Dispatcher/Planner, you will be integral to the operations team, ensuring efficient communication and coordination within the supply chain. Reporting to the Operations Manager, your core skills in data entry, analysis, proficiency in transportation management systems, and freight management will be essential for optimizing transportation processes. Your ability to handle email, multi-line phone systems, and manage shipping and receiving tasks will further support our commitment to delivering exceptional service. Key Responsibilities:

Match drivers, trucks, and trailers to specific orders based on load requirements.
Prepare job quotes and complete work orders.
Ensure drivers are adhering to hours of service and rest requirements.
Collaborate with mechanics for equipment availability and regular preventative maintenance.
Provide trailer loading instructions and plan routes, ensuring all delivery instructions are clear and complete.
Manage communication with drivers, including providing trip instructions and responding to inquiries.
Enter customer orders into the Truck Mate system and confirm these with customers.
Track outbound and inbound deliveries, addressing service issues as they arise.
Contact customers to minimize empty miles through “fill orders.”
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and support continuous improvement efforts.
Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements:

Proficient computer skills.
2 to 5 years of experience in a similar logistics or transportation role.
Ability to handle high-stress situations and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities.
Professional demeanor and effective communication skills with teams, drivers, and customers.
Extensive knowledge of transportation planning, organization, and distribution.
Being bilingual would be an asset.

Principales responsabilités :

Associer les chauffeurs, les camions et les remorques aux commandes selon les exigences des chargements.
Préparer des soumissions et compléter les bons de travail.
S’assurer que les chauffeurs respectent les heures de service et les périodes de repos.
Collaborer avec les mécaniciens afin d’assurer la disponibilité des équipements et l’entretien préventif régulier.
Fournir les instructions de chargement des remorques et planifier les itinéraires en s’assurant que toutes les consignes de livraison sont claires et complètes.
Gérer les communications avec les chauffeurs, incluant la transmission des instructions de transport et la réponse aux demandes.
Saisir les commandes des clients dans le système Truck Mate et les confirmer auprès des clients.
Effectuer le suivi des livraisons entrantes et sortantes et résoudre les problèmes de service au besoin.
Contacter les clients afin de réduire les kilomètres à vide grâce à des « commandes de remplissage ».
Suivre les procédures opérationnelles normalisées (PON) et soutenir les efforts d’amélioration continue.
Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe au besoin.

Exigences :

Excellentes compétences informatiques.
De 2 à 5 ans d’expérience dans un poste similaire en logistique ou en transport.
Capacité à gérer des situations stressantes et à travailler dans un environnement dynamique et rapide.
Excellentes aptitudes en multitâche et en gestion des priorités.
Attitude professionnelle et compétences en communication efficaces avec les équipes, les chauffeurs et les clients.
Connaissance approfondie de la planification, de l’organisation et de la distribution du transport.
Le bilinguisme (français, anglais) est un atout.
