Our new, state-of-the-art facility in the newly built KV Professional Centre is patient-focused and features digital technology, a safe and clean environment, and an amazing team that supports each other daily. Job description
Our clinic continues to grow. As such, we have our sights set high on finding an ‘A+ player’ Orthodontic Hygienist to join our team at PapadopSmiles Orthodontics. We are seeking a highly motivated, professional, detail-oriented team player Orthodontic Hygienist to join our team at our state-of-the-art orthodontic clinic in Quispamsis, New Brunswick!
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to be part of something special with an excellent doctor, a growing clinic and a cohesive team with integrity. The successful candidate will be a natural when it comes to people, be an excellent communicator and takes pride in delivering an exceptional patient experience, working directly alongside the orthodontist and our team.
We want to work with people who are self-starters, have excellent time management skills, are excellent at multi-tasking and regularly go ‘above and beyond’ as a default.
This full-time position (to be discussed, but looking for 4-4.5 days per week ideally) will offer a positive and healthy workplace environment, regular working hours, paid vacation, health coverage, an opportunity for you to grow in your career as the practice continues to flourish, continuing education opportunities and other employee benefits (to be discussed).
The compensation for this position is a competitive hourly wage (not salaried) that is dependent on your credentials, skills and experience. Orthodontic experience is considered an essential asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working together with other team members to carry out the clinic’s mission
- Working together with the doctor to deliver the patient’s treatment plan exactly as prescribed
- Providing a patient experience that is second to none and building a personal connection with patients at each and every phone call and in-office visit
- Time management skills and being a self-motivated learner are absolutely essential in order to succeed in this position
- Collect patients’ dental and relevant medical history with excellent note-taking of clinical findings
- Updating patient records and examination notes in an organized fashion
- Excellent communication with the doctor and patients as to the progression of a patients’ orthodontic treatment
- Desire to motivate every patient to have excellent oral hygiene throughout orthodontic treatment
- Be extremely well organized with instruments/tools, time management skills and being a reliable assistant for the doctor
- Taking radiographs and following all the safety procedures as required for both staff and patients
- Preparing the patient and equipment for radiographs
- Taking excellent clinical photos for documentation purposes
- Bonding and removal of brackets and other orthodontic appliances (expanders, bands, TPAs, etc…) as well as placing composite attachments for clear aligner therapy (e.g., Invisalign).
- Placing and removing orthodontic arch wires and clear aligners
- Performing digital scans for record keeping and fabrication of retainers
- Assisting the doctor chairside when required
- Performing all lab duties/requirements as instructed by the doctor (including using 3D printers, fabricating clear retainers, etc…)
- Preparing and maintaining all dental instruments, supplies and equipment in an organized way and sterilization of all instruments
- Working together with other team members to ensure the sterilization process is followed accurately for the proper sterilization of instruments and the preparation of clean instruments for patient use
- Calling patients for any follow-up (as directed by doctor) and answering any patient questions
- Maintaining a positive attitude and work cohesively with other clinicians to maintain an atmosphere of respect, trust and teamwork (no negative energy)
- Possess great energy and flexibility
- Participation and contribution alongside coworkers in sponsored community events

- A team player who confidently develops strong relationships, but who is also a natural self-starter and can work independently at length
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Inherent ability to thrive in a high-paced environment (this is not a ‘slow paced’ environment)
- This position can be challenging- you must be a self-starter and a quick and active learner
- Integrity, reliability and be passionate about our clinic with a willingness to work hard in a constantly evolving environment
- Successful completion of a Dental Hygiene program
- 1+ years’ experience as a Orthodontic Hygienist or an Orthodontic Assistant Level II is considered an asset
- Experience in an orthodontist office is considered an asset
- Naturally be a very personable and professional communicator; able to quickly develop a rapport with new and existing patients
- Warm and inviting personality that builds trust with our patients and which also fosters a great team environment for the clinic
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and verbal
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to ask relevant questions, understand concerns, and help prospective patients begin orthodontic treatment
- Superior time management and organizational skills- ability to work on the fly in a fast-paced environment with excellent computer skills (critical)
- Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively with the ability to quickly pivot between tasks
- Current CPR and First Aid Training
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Post-secondary education is required (certified and accredited dental hygienist)
· A minimum of 1 year in related experience (as an orthodontic hygienist) is required
