About Eco Guardian

Eco Guardian is a Canadian-owned leader in compostable and recyclable packaging solutions, proudly serving the foodservice, grocery, and retail sectors since 2004. We make the sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics — think compostable cups, food containers, and biodegradable packaging used by many local brands.

We're in an exciting period of growth. With a new advanced manufacturing facility in Aurora and a recent $1.5M Ontario government investment backing our expansion, we're scaling fast — and we need our systems to scale with us.

The Opportunity

Quality is our promise to every customer, and as a Quality Control Technician, you’ll be the one who makes sure we keep it.

The purpose of this role is to oversee and carry out the quality assurance and quality control activities that keep our products safe, consistent, and compliant — from the moment raw materials arrive to the moment finished cups and bowls are ready to ship. You are the link between our Production and Quality teams, the person who catches deviations before they become problems, and a driving force behind our continuous improvement.

Put simply: nothing leaves our facility without meeting Eco Guardian’s standards, and you are the one who safeguards that. Your work directly protects our customers’ trust, our brand’s reputation, and our compliance with the food safety regulations our industry depends on. You’ll report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and testing of incoming materials, production processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards
Monitor production activities to verify adherence to food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, GFSI (SQF), and other applicable regulatory requirements
Perform functionality, physical, and quality checks on food packaging products using appropriate measurement and testing equipment
Identify quality deviations, non-conformances, and potential food safety risks, and initiate corrective and preventive actions as required
Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, test results, corrective actions, and quality documentation
Assist in investigating customer complaints, product defects, and internal non-conformance reports, and recommend corrective actions
Support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory inspections
Participate in the development, review, and implementation of quality assurance procedures, programs, and policies
Provide training and guidance to employees on GMP practices, food safety requirements, and quality procedures

Qualifications and Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance
Working knowledge of food regulatory standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF, food safety, and food quality)
Experience conducting internal inspections and audits
Knowledge and experience using measurement and testing equipment
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
General computer skills (e.g., MS Office and inventory management systems)

Working Conditions

On-site role in a production/manufacturing environment; personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided
Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and production equipment typical of a food packaging facility
Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift

The posted salary range is our best estimate for the role and may vary based on the incumbents experience, knowledge and skillset, related to the position.

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
