Machine Shop Supervisor - Chester, NS

Our client operates a specialized manufacturing facility in Chester, Nova Scotia, producing custom marine and industrial equipment for global markets, including defence, offshore, and commercial sectors. With a focus on innovation and quality, they design, fabricate, and assemble high-performance engineered products for demanding applications.

Our client is looking for a Machinist to oversee their machine shop in Chester, NS. The Machine Shop Supervisor plays a key role in managing daily operations, leading a skilled team of machinists, and ensuring production efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily machine shop operations and personnel.
Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure on-time delivery of projects.
Provide technical guidance and support to machinists.
Enforce safety protocols and company policies.
Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and production teams.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues.

Qualifications

Red Seal Machinist certification or equivalent experience.
5+ years of machining experience.
Supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
Strong expertise in CNC and manual machining operations.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
