Wheaton’s is seeking a team lead for our purchasing department. The desired candidate would possess strong family values and have an appreciation of quality and aesthetics. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a motivated individual with an interest in managing a complex supply chain supporting a successful local retail operation

At Wheaton’s, product selection drives the customer experience. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying trends, sourcing products, building supplier relationships, and supporting impactful merchandising initiatives.

What You’ll Do

As Purchasing Manager, you will lead the purchasing department while overseeing a network of more than 200 suppliers and managing product sourcing across multiple retail categories.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the daily operations of the purchasing department.
Manage relationships with 200+ domestic and international suppliers
Source innovative, trend-forward products that align with Wheatons brand and customer expectations
Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and supplier agreements.
Effectively manage inventory levels in both retail stores and warehouse locations.
Oversee purchasing across categories and platforms including 6 retail locations, and growing e-commerce site.
Collaborate closely with the marketing department to provide merchandise for effective in-store promotions, campaigns, and events
Analyze trends, product performance, and market opportunities to support strategic purchasing decisions
Travel to store locations to support merchandising and product planning
Attend supplier meetings, trade shows, and sourcing trips throughout Canada, Europe, and Asia

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
Exceptional organization, planning, and decision-making abilities
Ability to manage multiple product categories in a fast-paced retail environment
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Experience

Experience in retail buying, home décor, seasonal merchandise, fashion, gourmet food, giftware, or specialty retail
Strong understanding of consumer trends and merchandising strategies
Experience working collaboratively across departments, including marketing and operations
