Full job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and knowledgeable Paralegal with a strong background in the construction and renovation industry to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and research skills, along with a solid understanding of construction contracts, lien laws, and industry-specific regulations. In this role, you will support attorneys in case preparation, legal drafting, and document management tailored to our construction and renovation projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a blend of legal expertise and industry experience to thrive in a professional, dynamic environment.

Duties

Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, mechanics' liens, and change orders with precision.
Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and iManage to support case strategies, specifically focusing on construction law, zoning regulations, and building codes.
Manage case files through effective filing systems and data entry to ensure organized record-keeping for ongoing renovation projects and legal disputes.
Assist in managing construction dispute files, delay claims, and compliance/permitting issues.
Assist in preparing for interviews and depositions by organizing relevant documentation, project blueprints, timelines, and background information.
Support project management tasks related to ongoing legal cases, contract closeouts, and insurance claims.
Perform clerical duties including phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and maintaining clear communication with clients, contractors, architects, and staff.
Assist attorneys with document review, editing, and summarization of complex construction project logs and financial records as needed.

Experience

Proven experience as a Paralegal, specifically within a law firm specializing in construction law, or in-house at a construction/renovation company.
Strong familiarity with construction-specific legal concepts, such as mechanics' liens, surety bonds, insurance certificates, and standard industry contracts.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and fast-moving project timelinesefficiently.
Excellent writing skills with experience in legal drafting, particularly contract clauses relevant to the construction sector.
Familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis is highly desirable.
Experience with project management software and data entry is a major plus.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive project and financial information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, attorneys, subcontractors, and regulatory officials.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
