Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, excellent customer service skills, and experience in food and beverage service. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for curating wine selections, assisting guests with wine pairings, and enhancing the overall dining experience through expert recommendations and attentive service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic restaurant environment where your expertise can elevate our guests' experience.

Responsibilities

Curate and maintain an extensive wine list, staying current with new selections and trends.
Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals and preferences
Provide detailed descriptions of wines, including origin, flavor profiles, and pairing suggestions
Educate staff and guests about wine varieties, tasting notes, and food pairings
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine storage area
Developing relationships with wine suppliers and wineries, placing ordering with supplier
Meeting targets with respect to wine costs of goods sold; assist in meeting targets with respect to labour and other operational costs
upholding standards of the restaurant with respect to service, appearance, and conduct;
preparing daily shift reports and communicating with fellow managers;

Skills

Minimum 2 years of sommelier or advanced wine service experience in fine dining or high-end wine bars.
Proven ability to conduct formal wine service, decanting, cellar management, and list development.
Excellent communication and guest-engagement skills.
Strong organizational discipline and attention to detail.
Ability to lift cases of wine (up to ~40 lbs) and manage cellar operations.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
