STEM/STEAM Camp Counselor

Location:

STEAMULATION Lab Oakville, 2861 Sherwood Heights Dr #26, Oakville, ON L6J 7K1

Dearcroft Montessori School – Trafalgar Crossing: 297 Oak Walk Dr, Oakville, ON L6H 3R6,

Employment Type: Full-Time (Seasonal)

Dates: June 29– August 29, 2026

Hours: Minimum 35 hours per week

Pay: $18/hour

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our summer camp team as a STEM/STEAM Camp Counselor. The ideal candidate is passionate about science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, and enjoys working with children in a fun, engaging, and hands-on learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate Learning Activities

Plan and lead interactive STEM/STEAM activities, experiments, and projects that align with the camp curriculum and spark curiosity and creativity. This will include providing lesson plans.

Supervise and Mentor

Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for campers. Guide and encourage participants throughout the day.

Collaborate with Team Members

Work closely with fellow counselors and camp coordinators to ensure smooth delivery of daily programming and a positive team atmosphere.

Adapt and Engage

Modify activities to suit various learning styles and camper needs. Create a welcoming space where all participants feel included and empowered.

Effective Communication

Communicate clearly and professionally with campers, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Share daily updates and respond to concerns as needed.

Promote Creativity and Critical Thinking

Foster problem-solving, curiosity, and hands-on learning through engaging projects and group challenges.

Ensure Safety and Well-Being

Follow all safety protocols and procedures. Act promptly and responsibly in case of emergencies or incidents.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of attendance, camper progress, and daily activities. Provide feedback to parents at the end of the day.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in a STEM/STEAM-related field (or currently working toward one)

Previous experience working with children in camp, educational, or recreational settings is an asset

Strong interest in STEM/STEAM education and creative learning

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to dynamic situations

Current CPR and First Aid certification

Vulnerable Sector Police Check (Required)

Must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time, seasonal position from June 30 to August 29, 2025. Camp counselors will work in a high-energy, interactive environment and play a key role in delivering enriching experiences to children through STEM/STEAM education. There may be opportunities for continued involvement in future programming.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
