Job Title: Apprentice Electrician (3rd–5th Year, ICI Sector)
Job Description
This role is ideal for a 3rd–5th year Electrical Apprentice with Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) experience who will support the demolition, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems in commercial environments. You will work on a variety of projects involving conduit and wiring, feeders and distribution systems, fire alarm systems, lighting, and controls, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and adherence to electrical codes. The position requires a motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented individual who can efficiently complete electrical installations in active facilities.
Responsibilities

Perform EMT work, including the installation, routing, and protection of electrical wiring using electrical metallic tubing in commercial and institutional environments.

Carry out rough-ins specifically for security cameras, card readers, and automatic door operators, ensuring all infrastructure is installed accurately and according to specifications.

Interpret and execute electrical wiring plans and schematics for commercial and ICI projects, ensuring compliance with design documents and applicable codes.

Install electrical systems in building structures, including conduit, wiring, feeders, and distribution systems, while maintaining neat and organized installations.

Set up and install circuit breaker panels, switches, resistors, generators, and other electrical equipment as required by project scope.

Install fire alarm systems and associated wiring in compliance with applicable electrical and life safety codes and project specifications.

Bend and install various types of conduit, including EMT and rigid conduit, using appropriate tools and techniques to achieve accurate bends and professional finishes.

Pull wire and cable through conduit and raceways, ensuring correct identification, routing, and termination to meet project and code requirements.

Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete installations, adjustments, and repairs on electrical systems.

Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues, including low-voltage systems, lighting, and control circuits, under the guidance of a licensed electrician.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Apply basic math and electrical code calculations to support accurate layout, material usage, and circuit sizing.

Support demolition activities related to existing electrical systems, including safe removal of wiring, conduit, and equipment as directed.

Follow all safety procedures and regulations while working in occupied facilities, maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Collaborate with other trades and team members on-site to ensure coordinated and efficient project execution.
Essential Skills-
Registered Electrical Apprentice at the 3rd to 5th level, with hands-on experience in the electrical field.

Proven experience working in the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) sector.

Demonstrated proficiency with EMT work, including installing and bending electrical metallic tubing.

Strong experience with conduit bending using appropriate tools and methods to achieve precise and code-compliant installations.

Hands-on experience with conduit installation, including running conduit, pulling wire, and routing electrical wiring in commercial environments.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics for electrical installations.

Basic understanding of electrical code requirements and the ability to apply basic math and code calculations in the field.

Experience installing electrical wiring, lighting, and low-voltage systems in commercial or institutional settings.

Capability to install and work with circuit breaker panels, switches, and related electrical equipment.

Experience with fire alarm system wiring and installation in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.

Proficiency using hand tools and basic electrical tools safely and effectively on job sites.

Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical issues, including lighting and low-voltage circuits, under supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Licensed 309A Electrician certification is a strong asset.

Experience working in school environments or similar institutional facilities.

Comfort working with rigid conduit in addition to EMT.

Work Environment
You will work primarily in school facilities in the Belleville area within the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) sector. The role follows a daytime schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., depending on the day, providing a consistent and predictable work routine. The environment involves active construction or renovation sites where you will use a range of electrical tools and equipment to install conduit, wiring, lighting, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage infrastructure. You will work both independently and as part of a crew, often in occupied buildings, and will be expected to follow all site safety protocols and maintain a professional appearance appropriate for a commercial and institutional setting.
