We are currently seeking an experienced AZ Float Driver / Material Hauler to support our operations by transporting heavy construction equipment and hauling aggregates and construction materials to job sites across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport heavy construction equipment using float and lowboy trailers.
Haul aggregates, granular materials, asphalt, topsoil, pipe, and other construction materials using dump trailers.
Deliver equipment and materials to multiple job sites throughout Eastern Ontario.
Load, unload, and properly secure heavy construction equipment.
Conduct daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
Complete electronic driver logs, vehicle inspection reports, and all required transportation documentation.
Ensure compliance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and company safety policies.
Coordinate deliveries with project managers, foremen, dispatch, suppliers, and pit operators.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck and trailer.
Report maintenance concerns promptly.
Represent Gordon Barr Ltd. professionally with customers, suppliers, inspectors, and the public.
Maintain a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

Valid Ontario AZ Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
Minimum 3 years of commercial AZ driving experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
Experience operating:
Float/lowboy trailers transporting heavy construction equipment.
Dump trailers hauling aggregates and construction materials.
Strong knowledge of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) regulations, Ontario Hours of Service compliance, and experience using electronic log systems.
Thorough understanding of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations, CVOR requirements, and National Safety Code standards.
Knowledge of proper load securement, oversized load regulations, and permit requirements.
Ability to accurately complete electronic logs, vehicle inspections, and transportation documentation.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong commitment to safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work overtime, early mornings, and occasional weekends during peak construction season.
Experience operating heavy construction equipment is considered an asset.
