This role is based out of two of our locations, one located at 40 Sandford Fleming Road, Collingwood, ON L9Y 4V7 and the other 1800 17th Street East, Owen Sound ON N4K 1Z4.
We are currently seeking a Quality Manager reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
You will be responsible for Quality Assurance related functions as it relates to our products that are manufactured and/or distributed by the Company in alignment with regulatory government agencies. Leading the team and supporting operations to promote quality, efficiency, and good manufacturing practices to achieve company objectives. This role applies risk management strategies and effective customer-focused solutions. The Quality Manager will support the safety and effectiveness of our product and meet business objectives in a compliant and timely manner.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 quality system across the organization.
- Provide ISO/IMS training system and support for staff and ensure training is current and up to date
- Responsible for coordinating, scheduling audits, reporting corrective actions, and maintaining communications to the 3rd Party Registrar throughout the audit cycle
- Perform internal departmental, external supplier and assist during customer audit processes for all businesses
- Develop quality control processes; ensuring products are designed with adherence to legal, quality and safety standards
- Determine and implement inspections examining the quality level of materials that are used in production
- Monitoring and evaluating internal production processes
- Evaluating the final output of products to determine its conformance to quality expectations
- Rejecting products that fail quality standards
- Post deliver activities including evaluating product recalls, warranties or customer complaints
- Facilitation and participation of Improving production efficiency and managing waste
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with all regulators and government officials
- To ensure quality and production records are maintained, accessible, and retention times are adhered to for regulatory and quality requirements
- Research and track pending legislation that requires planning and implementation prior to enactment dates
- Producing statistical reports on quality standards, management system processes, and regulatory status directly to management
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Degree in Business Administration or relevant field (e.g., Quality, Engineering, Science, Industrial Management)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and document management
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing an ISO quality system
- Strong background in analyzing technical documents, interpreting processes and procedures, regulations, and industry standards
- Prior experience managing the audit process and working with regulatory agencies
- Certified Lead Auditor preferred
- Excellence in document management and control
- Previous experience leading the implementation of an ISO system would be considered a strong asset
- Experience with core Quality Management Skills including Measuring System (MSA), Statistical Application (SPC), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval (PPAP/ FAI), Quality Planning (AQP), is preferred
- Strong data analysis and statistical aptitude
- Demonstrates effective communication with suppliers, government staff, regulators, customers and internal staff at each level
- An understanding of applicable government regulatory bodies
- A strong commitment to regulatory compliance
- You have previous experience identifying training requirements for an ISO quality system, building training programs and effectively delivering the training
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- You are flexible and adaptable with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- You are a mature self-starter who remains calm under pressure
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail is critical
- Strong understanding of measuring device selection, application, controls, and statistical application
- Manufacturing experience in a production / manufacturing shop environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be flexible and open to change
