Cake Decorator

Norwich Deli and Bakery is a full service family owned bakery, deli and European specialty food store. we have an excellent reputation for quality and freshness. Our specialty is European style scratch baking together with our hand decorated cakes and pastries

Responsibilities:
-Provide production support to the pastry and cake department team during peak business times.
- Recipe adherence: follow established recipes while ensuring consistency in taste and appearance of all baked goods
-Quality Control; Maintain high-quality standards by inspecting finished products for imperfections and making necessary adjustments to meet visual and taste expectations. -Inventory Management: Monitor and report inventory levels of decorating supplies, ingredients, and tools to ensure uninterrupted production.
-Production/Decorating: A significant part of this position will involve the decorating of our signature, fresh fruit topped cakes, making squares and making cookies.
-Sanitation and Safety: Follow all safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with food safety regulations.
Operate commercial dish washer as needed to ensure the pastry room and baking department has clean tools the the ready when needed.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in pastry and cake baking/decorating environment is and asset, however, we would be willing to train the right candidate.
- Strong artistic and creative skills with an eye for detail.
- Knowledge of pastry production and cake decoration techniques is a plus.
-Familiarity with various decorating tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
-Basic understanding of food safety and with a current food handlers certificate (or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
-Team player with a positive attitude and a passion for cake decorating and pastry.

Work Hours: 40-44 hours per week, some early morning hours, Monday to Saturday hours with one day off every week. Flexibility in availability would be an asset, especially during vacations and seasonal busy times
