What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Preparedness and Telecommunication, you will:

Operate the hospital’s telephone console, providing information and directions at the hospital’s entrance.
Receive and direct all incoming calls to the hospital’s main number in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.
Assist with emergency situations by making announcements and following established protocols.
Sort, send, and receive mail and perform a wide variety of related tasks, such as sign-out keys for meeting rooms and provide volunteer kits for Para-Transpo trips.
Maintain a composed and courteous demeanor under pressure, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, and maturity.

How do I qualify?

Required:

Completion of high school Diploma.
Minimum of six (6) months of experience working with a switchboard or in a receptionist role.
Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement).

Preferred:

Experience in a health care setting.

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

Excellent people skills.
Basic computer skills
Good judgment, and the ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
Calmness in emergency situations, along with tact, patience, diplomacy, and discretion.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
