Accounting & Payroll Administrator

Ocean Choice International (Ocean Choice) is one of Atlantic Canada’s most diversified seafood companies, sustainably producing and marketing a full range of shellfish, groundfish, and pelagic species. We are currently accepting applications for the role of Accounting & Payroll Administrator. This dynamic, highly organized individual will be located at our head office in St. John’s, NL. Reporting directly to the Manager of Finance & Administration, Fleet Division, the Accounting & Payroll Administrator will help to ensure the timely preparation of Ocean Choice’s accounting and payroll tasks for the Fleet Division.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly fleet accruals and journal entries.
Maintain and reconcile fleet working papers and inventory accounts.
Track fleet quota balances and prepare related reconciliations and invoices.
Reconcile company-owned vessel harvesting data within the quota tracking system.
Assist with the preparation of year-end audit files and support external auditors as required.
Prepare ad hoc financial reports, analyses, and other accounting support as needed.
Process and administer fleet payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
Respond to fleet payroll inquiries from employees and regulatory agencies.

Through your education and 3–5 years of relevant accounting and payroll experience, you have demonstrated sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment. You possess a Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration, preferably supplemented by experience in a manufacturing environment. Certification as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) would be considered an asset.
