MCL Masonview Homes is searching for an Individualized Participant Services Worker to join their Independent Living Support (ILS) Team team in Pictou County, NS for full-time and casual positions.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the IPS Coordinator, the IPS Worker plays a key role in empowering participants to live independently within their own homes and communities. This position provides individualized, strengths-based support while building trusted relationships, encouraging personal growth, and supporting participants in achieving their goals for daily living, wellness, and community engagement.
Position Overview
The IPS Worker provides direct, individualized support to participants enrolled in MCL Masonview Homes’ Independent Living Support (ILS) program. Working collaboratively with participants, IPS Coordinators, and external support partners, the IPS Worker supports daily living, planning, and community connection while maintaining high standards of professionalism, documentation, and participant-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Planning & Support
- Provide individualized, person-centered support in collaboration with participants and the IPS Coordinator, aligned with individualized service plans.
- Support participants to build and maintain meaningful relationships with family, friends, and community networks.
- Promote independence in activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living (I/ADL), including household management, meal preparation, banking, shopping, transportation, and community access.
- Encourage and support personal wellness, including health routines, mental health support, and attendance at medical or therapeutic appointments.
- Actively recognize participant strengths and facilitate opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and increased independence.
- Assist with onboarding and transition planning for new ILS participants.
- Identify participant needs, concerns, or risks; document accurately; and collaborate with the IPS Coordinator to develop and implement follow-up plans.
- Ensure participant living environments align with MCL Masonview program standards, including Fire and Life Safety requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate with Disability Support Program (DSP) Care Coordinators and other approved members of the participant’s support network.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold participant rights at all times.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Build positive, professional relationships with community partners and stakeholders as a representative of MCL Masonview.
- Work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams while demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving autonomy.
- Engage participants using creativity, personal interests, and strengths to foster meaningful connection and motivation—while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Operations & Professional Practice
- Attend regular staff meetings and participate in training, advisory groups, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Maintain good standing with all mandatory training and certifications.
- Support the orientation and onboarding of new employees when required.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability in all aspects of the role.
Documentation & Administration
- Complete and submit accurate participant documentation in accordance with MCL Masonview policies and timelines, including Daily Records, Appointment Records, Incident Reports, and entitlement documentation.
- Follow MCL Masonview Standard Operating Procedures related to documentation, scheduling, vacation, and sick time.
- Submit mileage reimbursement and other administrative documentation as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education and/or experience in Human Services or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience in recreation, leisure services, or community-based supports is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Clear and current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Valid Driver’s License and a clear driver’s abstract
- Be willing to obtain 2 million liability insurance to transport participants.
