About The Little Sparo Sarnia

The Little Sparo is an upscale-casual Italian restaurant rooted in local culture, authentic handmade food, and dynamic, unscripted service. We bring Italian culinary traditions together with Newfoundland’s people, products, and energy to create a vibrant, story-driven dining experience.

Located inside The Insignia Hotel, Sarnia, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, The Little Sparo offers guests a warm, refined atmosphere where every meal tells a story.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and charismatic Bartender to craft cocktails and curate an outstanding bar experience at The Little Sparo. You will bring creativity, precision, and warmth to every drink and every interaction — whether behind the restaurant bar or supporting service upstairs at Regners Bar.

Please note: team members may occasionally be assigned to support service at Regners Bar, located upstairs, during high-volume periods.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a wide range of cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency and flair
Provide engaging, knowledgeable recommendations on our Italian-inspired beverage and cocktail menu
Deliver outstanding guest service at the bar, creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere
Process orders and payments accurately using Maître D POS software
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar at all times
Monitor guest consumption and uphold all responsible alcohol service policies
Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations
Assist with beverage inventory, ordering, and cost-control procedures
Support service at Regners Bar upstairs when needed during busy periods
Perform opening and closing bar duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning
Other assigned duties as required for restaurant operations.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or bar setting (required)
Experience with Maître D POS software is a strong asset
Solid knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wines, spirits, and Italian aperitifs
Excellent communication skills with a friendly, engaging personality
Strong multitasking abilities and composure in a fast-paced environment
Polished, professional presentation and a genuine passion for the craft
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Smart Serve certification (or provincial equivalent) required
Comfortable working in a hotel restaurant environment
