Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. As a General Contractor specializing in commercial and industrial construction projects, we are looking for an individual who can prepare accurate and competitive estimates while supporting successful project planning and execution.

You will be joining a young, dynamic, and collaborative team that values professionalism, innovation, and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a growing company while developing their career in construction.

The Construction Estimator will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to develop detailed budgets, tender submissions, and cost analyses for projects throughout the Greater Montreal Area, including Laval, the North Shore, West Island, East End, and surrounding regions.

Key Responsibilities

Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to determine project requirements.
Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions.
Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare competitive bids, proposals, and tender submissions.
Analyze project risks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend value engineering solutions.
Collaborate with project managers and site teams during pre-construction planning.
Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs as required.
Maintain and update estimating databases, subcontractor contacts, and historical cost information.
Assist with project handovers and review estimated versus actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy.
Ensure all estimates comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and company standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator in commercial and/or industrial construction.
Experience working for a General Contractor is considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project sequencing.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).
Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Sciences, or a related field is considered an asset.
