Description

We’re hiring a Slot Attendant and Cashier to work with us at the Chances Prince Rupert casino in Prince Rupert, BC.

Reporting to the Gaming Manager, the Slot Attendant and Cashier is the primary point of contact for guests. You'll be providing attentive, prompt, and courteous responses to customer inquiries and requests for assistance or information. Additionally, you'll handle problems and complaints efficiently and make referrals to supervisory staff for resolution as required.

You will help create memorable guest experiences by providing friendly, knowledgeable service, explaining games, celebrating winnings, and processing jackpot payouts. This role is an entry-level position with opportunity to grow within our organization and the starting wage is $18.25/hour.

This position is primarily responsible for the overall level of service in an assigned area and on the gaming floor in general. However, you will also be responsible for slot machine maintenance tasks, cash handling, and light cleaning duties.

Because Chances Prince Rupert is a casino, all employees must be 19 years of age or older. You must also be able to complete a criminal record check through the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO).

This is a full-time position, so the successful candidate will need to be available to work 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

There are some physical aspects to the job, including lifting boxes and pushing and pulling carts as well as long periods of standing and walking. The casino environment is also loud, with dim lighting and bright, flashing lights.

The Slot Attendant and Cashier must have Appropriate Response Training Level 1 and Anti-Money Laundering training. We also need people with strong communication skills who work well in fast-paced environments, under pressure, and independently with good judgement. This position may require you to handle confidential information, so we’re looking for applicants who can do so with discretion and care.

Duties

Customer Service (70% of time)

Greet, welcome, and acknowledge guests.
Reserve slot machines upon request.
Ensure that players are served efficiently and in a professional manner.
Build strong working relationships with internal and external guests.
Verify all jackpots, hand pays, wallet pays, and any slot machine malfunctions.
Assist with promoting awareness of and excitement for ongoing and upcoming company promotions.
Promote Encore Card membership and usage to slot players.
Participate in a professional, constructive, and supportive environment for all Casino staff with an attention to open communication and a team concept.
Work in compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures and/or BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) policies and procedures; report any violations and escalate to the appropriate level as necessary.

Technical (10% of time)

Perform routine procedures with slot machine printers, bill validators, adding or removing paper and fixing tilts.
Reset machines after jackpot processing.
Change bills.

Count (10% of time)

Count bills.
Organize and secure the storage of count carts and cassettes.
Transport all collected cash boxes/cassettes to the Count Room.
Operate automated money counting equipment (Cummins Allison) to count and process TITO tickets and currency removed from all the cash boxes/cassettes.
Report suspect cash and cash equivalents.
Verify and reconcile before and after counts.
Bag, bundle, secure, and transport counts.
Follow floor plan and security instructions.

Drop (5% of time)

Pull cassettes from slot machines and secure in cart.
Secure machine doors after pull.
Follow reporting procedure for found money.
Secure the cassette cart after the drop is completed.

Cleaning (5% of time)

Ensure the assigned area remains clean and tidy.
Remove garbage and ensure gaming areas are kept neat and clean.
Wipe and sanitize slot machines and chairs.

Qualifications

General Requirements

Must be at least 19 years of age.
Appropriate Response Training Level 1.
Anti-Money Laundering Training.
The ability to successfully complete a criminal record and credit check through the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO).
Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform well under pressure.
Experience managing highly confidential information with discretion and care.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, use good judgement, and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Ability to use physical exertion to push, pull, and lift boxes filled with currency on a consistent basis.
Ability to use physical exertion to push and pull carts on a consistent basis.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items on a consistent basis.

Working Conditions

Loud noise, including but not limited to music, announcements, and slot game play.
Dim lighting with bright flashing lights.

Education

There are no degrees, diplomas, certifications, or other formal educational requirements for this position. Training will be provided upon hire.
