Position Type: Full-Time, Up to 40 hours/week (rotating schedule)

Reports to: Site Manager

Salary: $25/hour

Neighbourly Homes is a fully managed transitional housing community developed by 12 Neighbours Inc. We provide more than a place to stay — we foster a community where people can reconnect with stability, dignity, and belonging. Our Saint John site is a micro-home courtyard designed to offer low-barrier, wraparound support to individuals exiting homelessness. Relationships, routine, and respect are at the heart of what we do.

About the Role

The Supervisor plays a key leadership role in supporting the Site Manager with the day-to-day operations of Neighbourly Homes. This position oversees and mentors a team of 8–12 facilitators, ensures schedules are maintained, supports training and onboarding, manages supplies and inventory, and provides frontline leadership to uphold the safety, stability, and community tone of the site.

This role is ideal for someone who has strong supervisory skills, can balance operational needs with team support, and demonstrates a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to working with individuals who have experienced homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Supervision & Leadership

Support the Site Manager in leading a team of 8–12 facilitators.
Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback.
Assist in onboarding and ongoing training of new staff, ensuring alignment with Neighbourly Homes’ values and practices.
Ensure consistent communication and clear expectations across shifts.
Model professionalism, calm presence, and healthy boundaries for both staff and participants.

Scheduling & Staffing

Draft and manage staff schedules in collaboration with the Site Manager.
Ensure coverage for all shifts and assist with filling scheduling gaps.
Oversee shift transitions and provide leadership when Site Manager is unavailable.

Operations & Site Management

Monitor shared spaces and overall site environment for safety, cleanliness, and order.
Manage supplies and inventory, ensuring stock is maintained and ordered as needed.
Complete and review daily logs, incident reports, and documentation for accuracy and quality.
Respond to crises and support staff in applying de-escalation and trauma-informed practices.

Resident Support & Community Building

Support staff in building respectful, professional relationships with participants.
Ensure team members are modeling dignity, consistency, and mutual respect in daily interactions.
Help facilitate programming, community activities, and participant onboarding as needed.

Collaboration & Training

Work closely with the Site Manager to identify training needs and coordinate ongoing staff development.
Participate in and occasionally lead team meetings, check-ins, and wellness debriefs.
Support implementation of Neighbourly Homes’ policies, protocols, and safety standards.

Qualifications

Completion of a Human Services or PSW diploma or certificate, OR equivalent education/experience
3+ years of relevant experience in supportive housing, shelter work, addictions, or community services
3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide guidance to staff during crises
Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and staff support
Comfort with digital documentation and reporting tools
High level of reliability, professional integrity, and sound judgment
Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Reliable transportation for shift flexibility and emergency coverage

Certifications

Required (must be obtained prior to employment):

Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR (16-hour course)
Clear Criminal Record Check
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (including Social Development clearance)

Assets (training support may be provided):

Naloxone / Opioid Overdose Response Training
Mental Health First Aid
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
Trauma-Informed Practice Training

Working Conditions

Full-time (up to 40 hours/week), scheduled across a rotating shift model including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Participation in bi-weekly wellness checks, team debriefs, and ongoing training.
Work may involve responding to crises, supporting individuals under the influence, and navigating trauma-related conversations.
Equally, the role involves celebrating participant progress, supporting milestones, and fostering a caring courtyard community.
