Tea House Chef – Cronquist House Tea Room

Part‑Time | Wednesdays–Saturdays | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

About the Role

The historic Cronquist House Tea Room is seeking a dedicated and creative Tea House Chef to lead daily food preparation and support onsite catering for private events. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a warm, community‑focused environment and can thrive in a small, fast‑paced kitchen. With a seating capacity of 40, our Tea Room offers an intimate dining experience featuring soups, salads, sandwiches, and our signature Tea for One and Tea for Two service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare daily menu items including soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty high‑tea offerings (assorted sandwiches, scones, desserts).
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Oversee kitchen operations during service hours (11 AM–4 PM, Wed–Sat).
Manage food prep, portioning, and inventory within a small kitchen environment.
Support onsite catering for private events, including menu execution and coordination.

Skills & Qualifications

Food Safety Certificate (required).
Proven experience in a café, tea house, bakery, or similar kitchen setting.
Strong ability to prepare light‑fare menu items with consistency and efficiency.
Experience with or interest in high‑tea service (scones, desserts, finger sandwiches).
Excellent time‑management skills, especially during busy service windows.
Ability to work effectively in a small kitchen with limited staff capacity.
Strong teamwork skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
Reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
Ability to support catering menus and adapt to private event needs.
Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
Work collaboratively with front‑of‑house staff to ensure smooth service and a welcoming guest experience.
Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials, and efficient workflow improvements.
Maintain a calm, organized approach during peak periods (up to 40 guest)
