Position Summary
The Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations within a manufacturing or service environment to achieve safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost objectives. This role provides frontline leadership by planning work, coordinating resources, supporting employee development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The Supervisor creates a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment by coaching employees, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires active participation in operations while developing team capability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and support employees to achieve operational and performance goals.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and respect.
- Plan and assign daily work activities to optimize productivity and resource utilization.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee development, and employee relations activities.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and recognition to support employee growth and engagement.
- Address performance, attendance, conduct, and policy concerns in a timely, fair, and consistent manner.
- Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
Operations & Production Management
- Coordinate staffing, schedules, workflow, and resources to meet production or service targets.
- Monitor operational performance, identify challenges, and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure adequate labour, materials, equipment, and inventory are available to support operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and system transactions.
- Utilize ERP and other business systems to track performance, analyze trends, and support decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient information flow and process execution.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion and enforce all health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct workplace inspections and ensure employees follow safe work practices.
- Lead emergency response activities, including evacuations and muster point accountability when required.
- Participate in incident, near-miss, and workplace investigation processes and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate non-conformances and implement preventive and corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable legislation.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Promote best practices and standard work processes throughout the department.

Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, service, or operations environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing daily operations.
- Strong organizational, planning, delegation, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of applicable workplace health and safety legislation and employment standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business software systems.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- This position will not support a labour market impact assessment (LMIA) or support though the provincial nominee program (SINP).
Preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and production management software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S methodologies.
- Experience working in a multi-shift operation.
Working Environment
- Manufacturing, service, warehouse, or industrial work environment.
- Regular presence on the shop floor and in operational areas.
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout facilities.
- Exposure to moving equipment, forklifts, cranes, material handling systems, welding, grinding, and other industrial activities.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including CSA-approved safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, and task-specific PPE.
- Fast-paced environment with changing priorities and operational demands.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to support multiple shifts or flexible work schedules as business needs require.
