Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in English or a related field.
Preference for candidates familiar with the BC curriculum, SSAT, SAT, AP, or IB programs; however, strong subject matter expertise and proven teaching ability will also be considered.
A minimum of 2–3 years of teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
Experience creating preparatory materials for standardized tests (SSAT, SAT, AP, IB) is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in English writing competitions or in coaching students for academic or creative writing contests is considered an advantage.
Possession of a valid BC teaching certification or its equivalent is an asset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
Passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning experience.
Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs.
Knowledge of English literature at the elementary and secondary school levels, with the ability to guide students in interpretation and critical analysis.
Experience teaching writing, including grammar, composition, and creative expression, and providing constructive feedback on essays and assignments.
Ability to commute between Richmond and Vancouver locations as needed.

Position Details:

Full-time: Minimum of 30 teaching hours per week.
Hourly Rate: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Schedule:

Teaching on an on-call basis.
Primarily scheduled Monday to Friday during after-school and evening hours.
Weekend availability may be required.
Schedule adjustments may occur during school holidays based on student demand.

Vancouver Office: #102-1727 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC

You have personally completed the curriculum/exam (e.g., BC K–12, AP, IB, SAT, etc.)

Do NOT include subjects you have not taught or personally completed, as subjects listed here may be assessed in a teaching demo or interview.
