Full job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Control Supervisor ensures that all products meet established quality and safety standards. They oversee the Quality Control (QC) team, verify testing procedures, conduct audits, and collaborate with various departments to maintain compliance with food safety regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control & Compliance

Supervise and coordinate daily QC operations, ensuring documentation and testing procedures are executed accurately.
Oversee Certificates of Analysis (CoA) verification for approved ingredients and maintain raw material specifications.
Monitor product hold and release processes, ensuring timely communication and resolution of quality concerns.
Approve product releases, ensuring all standards for safety and quality are met.

Laboratory & Technical Expertise

Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and functionality of equipment.
Supervise Elisa Methodology allergen testing and other lab analyses to ensure food safety compliance.
Maintain and oversee inventory management for laboratory materials, ensuring proper storage and usage.

Team Leadership & Training

Train Quality Control Technicians on standard operating procedures, allergen testing, and lab testing techniques.
Conduct performance evaluations, providing coaching and development opportunities to improve technician effectiveness.

Food Safety & Auditing

Lead food safety audits, identifying corrective actions and reporting findings to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Assist in managing Food Safety & Quality programs, including HACCP plan reviews and pest control assessments.
Investigate customer complaints, identify trends, and implement corrective measures to resolve quality concerns.

Regulatory Compliance & Industry Standards

Ensure adherence to HACCP, GFSI, FSMA, CFIA, FDA food regulations, keeping all processes aligned with industry requirements.
Stay up to date on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
Support third-party audits and certification processes, ensuring documentation is accurate and processes meet regulatory expectations.

Supplier & Product Management

Assist in approving new suppliers and maintaining supplier, customer, and internal product specifications.
Review metal detection findings and incident reports, ensuring corrective actions are properly implemented.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance or a related field.
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar capacity or role in a manufacturing or production environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP and Food Safety

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong experience in data analysis to drive quality improvements.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Having strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be comfortable working in a hot environment (Bakery floor)
Extended periods of standing or walking through the production floor to oversee QC technicians and inspections.
Occasionally lifting lab equipment, product samples, or raw materials (usually up to 25-50 lbs).
Manual Dexterity: Handling lab instruments, conducting tests, and documenting results accurately.
Bending & Reaching: Inspecting products, accessing supplies, or conducting audits in different areas.
Working in environments with varying temperatures (hot ovens, cool storage areas).
Sensory Demands: Strong visual acuity to identify defects, keen smell and taste when evaluating ingredients or final products.

This position will rotate between second and third shift.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
