Full job description

Early Childhood Educator (or assisstant) for Evergreen Independent School. Evergreen Independent School is a caring and respectful community which provides a balanced education primarily for students from the Cowichan Valley. We are nurturing a generation of curious, confident, lifelong learners, rich in emotional wisdom, who are able to advocate for their needs and those of others.

This is a full-time position, 8:15 am - 3:15 pm Monday-Thursday, during school term only. (Not during Winter/Spring/Summer breaks.)

Contract is September 1, 2026 - June 24, 2027.

Job Requirements

Skills:

Certification (ECE, or ECE-A), training, or experience working with preschool aged students.
Ability to work effectively with co-workers, students, and society members with diplomacy and professionalism.
Knowledge of current child development theories and understanding of the theories behind various learning styles.
Ability to support and respond to different learning styles. Specialized training is an asset.
Time management skills with ability to be flexible and multitask.
Ability to understand and follow a lesson plan as set out by the classroom teacher.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to manage a group of preschool-aged students.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

Early childhood educator (or assistant) diploma
Current first aid certificate.
Current criminal record check, or willingness to complete one

Compensation:

Starting wage 24.39/hr, or higher depending on experience and qualifications.
This position qualifies for the Wage Enhancement program

Pay: From $24.39 per hour

Flexible language requirement:

French not required
