FIREFLY is seeking a regular full time Communications Disorder Assistant (or Communication Assistant) to support Speech-Language Pathology services across our region. This role plays a key part in helping children and families access high-quality, coordinated care.

We provide community-based, mental health, and developmental services across Northwestern Ontario in partnership with families, schools, child care centres, and community organizations.
About the Role
As a Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) or Communication Assistant, you will work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services. You will implement therapy plans, support program delivery, and help create engaging materials for children, families and care providers. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will:
- Support speech-language and/or hearing screening activities.
- Administer treatment plans developed by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs).
- Assist with client programming and provide informal documentation and reporting.
- Prepare therapy materials, home programs, and resources for families and classrooms.
- Support communication between clinicians, families, and community partners.
- Participate in team meetings and training as required.
- Travel within communities to support services in homes, schools, and community settings as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Preferred: Diploma in Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) program.
- Alternate Consideration: A related diploma/degree (e.g. Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences, Social Services, or equivalent) with relevant experience.
- Experience working with children with communication or developmental needs is an asset.
- Experience working in or with community-based programs is an asset.

- Cultural awareness, with understanding of First Nation communities is considered an asset
- Strong documentation and computer skills
- Flexibility to travel and work across settings
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Driver's Licence and ability to travel within Northwestern Ontario
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
- Ability to manage a reasonable workload with effective prioritization and follow-up

- Some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time
