About us

Prospec Chemicals operates an 8,000 MT (annual) chemical facility in Sturgeon County, AB. Here at Prospec Chemicals, we manufacture a complete range of xanthates and xanthate derivatives, which are used in the processing of base and precious metals via the flotation method.

Prospec Chemicals is a division of Charles Tennant & Company (Canada) Ltd. and is a member of Tennants Consolidated PLC. Products are marketed globally by CTC and a network of chemical distributors servicing the mining industry.

At Prospec Chemicals, we employ approximately 35 people. A Third Operator is required to ensure the safe, efficient preparation of packaging materials, packaging and storage of finished products. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting any issues, making adjustments and calling for additional resources as required.

Our ideal candidate is safety oriented and has these competencies:

Forklift experience required
Class 5 Driver's License required
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Trouble shooting / Problem Solving skills
Able to work well under pressure
Planning, Organizing and possess a high attention to details

Job Duties for the Third Operator include:

Use scale to fill packaged products
Preparation of packaging materials for designated shift and following shift, including appropriate labels being used and adhered to products correctly.
Ensure packaged product is cleaned appropriately and stored in a safe and consistent manner. Communicate with shipping and receiving team to ensure correct location of storage, ensuring location is free of other products and clean.
Provide feedback to supervisor on any issues that arise in a timely manner.
Ensure damaged product is correctly marked, handled and disposed of.
Take samples of all finished products and ensure they are taken to the appropriate location.
Participate in training and cross training, improvement initiatives including health and safety and quality improvement.
Be an active leader in all Safe Work Practices by adhering to all workplace safety policies, compliances and regulations and participating in weekly tool box talks.
Use all required PPE
Ensure work area is kept clean and organized.
Other duties as assigned, including housekeeping.

Requirements to be a Third Operator:

No previous experience required - on the job training provided.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Highly punctual for shift change
Strong work ethic
Attention to detail
Must be clean shaven

Work Conditions for a Third Operator:

12 hour shifts - Fast 12 Shift Pattern (2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off)
Overtime as required
Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
Safety equipment (PPE) is required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, coveralls, full face respirator, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
High temperatures in summer months, dusty conditions at times
Hazards associated with a variety of chemicals used in the facility

Applicants must have their own transportation as their is no transit service in the area.

All Applicants must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
