The salary range for the position of Legal Assistant - General Litigation is $45,000 - $55,000 annually. This position will be located at our St. Catharines Office.
Job Description
The Legal Assistant role supports the day-to-day activities of lawyers within the family law practice group. This role is responsible for document preparation and general practice administration. This position is responsible for filing of documentation, data entry and data management, correspondence, and calendar management.

Provides support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including scheduling, greeting clients, file management, document management, etc.;

Prepares, drafts and reviews documents and completes transcriptions;

Provides assistance to lawyers with trial preparation and support;

Performs various administrative functions including conflict checks, opening and closing files and preparing account related documents including docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.;

Facilitates communication between lawyers, clients and external contacts;

Files documents at court as required;

Keeps abreast of any changes in specialty area and is quickly able to adapt procedures to meet requirements;

Performs other duties as may be assigned and or required from time to time.
Qualifications

Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a Legal Assistant or related role, ideally withing Family Law;

Thorough and current knowledge of Family Law Rules and Rules of Civil Procedure including filing deadlines;

Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal software including PC Law;

Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in a legal environment;

Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize and risk-assess high volumes of work, responding to shifting priorities as necessary;

Ability to take initiative and demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability;

Decisive and able to work with minimal supervision.
