Account Administrator / Junior Accountant

Location: Hamilton, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About Us

We are a growing, family-owned warehousing and logistics company committed to providing exceptional service to our customers. We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Account Administrator / Junior Accountant to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or grow their career in accounting.

Position Summary

The Account Administrator / Junior Accountant will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions that support the day-to-day financial operations of the company. We are willing to train the right candidate, so this position is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with limited accounting experience who has a strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Process accounts payable invoices and prepare payments.
Assist with accounts receivable, including applying customer payments and following up on outstanding balances.
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Reconcile general ledger accounts.
Assist with HST filings and other government remittances.
Prepare reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
Respond to internal and external accounting inquiries.
Provide administrative support to the accounting department.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Previous accounting or office experience is considered an asset but is not required.
Basic understanding of accounting principles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

Experience with accounting software (such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
Experience working in logistics, transportation, or warehousing.
Familiarity with Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, or XLOOKUP.
