Full job description

Job Overview

Athena Fencing Club is looking for a thoughtful and proactive website specialist to take ownership of our Wix website and continuously improve its performance.

This person will be responsible for keeping the website accurate, polished, easy to use, and aligned with Athena’s premium positioning. The role is not just about maintaining pages. It is about helping more prospective members find us, understand our programs, and take the next step.

Key responsibilities

Manage and maintain the Athena Fencing Club Wix website
Ensure the website works smoothly across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Improve the user journey from first visit to inquiry, trial booking, or member registration
Review and improve page layouts, navigation, calls to action, forms, and booking flows
Create and update landing pages for programs, camps, events, and promotions
Keep program information, schedules, pricing, images, and staff information current
Improve website speed, usability, accessibility, and overall presentation
Manage on page and technical SEO within Wix
Research relevant local search terms and identify opportunities to improve rankings
Optimize page titles, descriptions, headings, content, internal links, and image information
Support local SEO and help Athena appear more prominently in searches for fencing programs in Burnaby and the surrounding area
Monitor Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and conversion tracking
Provide clear monthly reporting on traffic, rankings, inquiries, and booking performance
Identify practical improvements and implement them consistently
Coordinate with photographers, writers, coaches, or outside specialists when additional support is needed

What success looks like

The website feels polished, current, and professional at all times
Mobile visitors can quickly understand our programs and take action
More website visitors become inquiries, trial participants, and Athena members
Athena improves its visibility for relevant local searches
Website performance and conversion data are tracked accurately
Improvements are made proactively instead of only when something breaks
Routine website management is handled independently, with clear communication and minimal oversight

Ideal experience

Strong hands on experience managing Wix websites
A portfolio showing polished, conversion focused websites
Practical experience with SEO, especially local SEO
Understanding of conversion optimization and customer journeys
Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console
Strong visual judgment and attention to detail
Ability to improve website copy while maintaining Athena’s voice
Comfortable working independently and recommending priorities
Able to explain performance and technical issues in clear language

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is thoughtful in their decision making, relentlessly detailed in their execution, and proactive about identifying opportunities for improvement.

They should care about every part of the customer experience, from how the website looks and feels to how easily a prospective member can find information and take the next step. We want someone who notices problems before they are pointed out, brings forward practical solutions, and follows through consistently.

The right person should think of the website as an active part of Athena’s growth, not a finished brochure.
