About the Role
We are looking for an SEO Content Creator & Editor who can write and edit beyond a basic AI-generated draft. The right person should be able to take general information, client notes, SEO direction, and research, then turn it into content that feels specific, thoughtful, useful, and aligned with each client’s real business.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable researching clients, speaking with business owners, asking the right questions, improving rough drafts, and adapting content for different industries. Strong grammar is important, but the bigger focus is judgment: knowing when content sounds generic, when it needs more detail, when something feels inaccurate, and how to make it better.
HOMESHOWOFF works with many service-based businesses in the home improvement and construction industry, and our clients expect original, useful, and well-written content that reflects their real services, experience, tone, audience, and market. This can include service pages, blog posts, location pages, homepage sections, existing content additions, project descriptions, FAQs, landing pages, and other website copy.
What You’ll Be Doing
Client Research, Interviews & Discovery
- Research each client’s business, services, service areas, target audience, tone of voice, and positioning.
- Review client websites, intake notes, discovery call notes, emails, social media, YouTube videos, project galleries, reviews, portfolios, and other available materials.
- Speak directly with clients to gather information for website content, SEO campaigns, blog topics, service pages, and project descriptions.
- Participate in client discovery calls to understand the client’s business, services, process, audience, goals, and content needs.
- Interview clients about their ideas, services, experience, project examples, customer questions, industry knowledge, and unique selling points.
- Ask thoughtful follow-up questions to uncover useful details that can make the content more specific, accurate, and original.
- Identify content opportunities from client conversations, including new topics, service page ideas, blog ideas, FAQs, case studies, and content additions.
- Summarize important client details for the internal team so SEO specialists, designers, developers, and writers understand the content direction.
Website Content Creation
- Write content for homepages, service pages, location pages, blog posts, FAQs, project descriptions, landing pages, and content additions.
- Write content that is clear, helpful, well-structured, and appropriate for the client’s industry and audience.
- Adapt writing style depending on the client, from professional and polished to friendly, simple, technical, luxury-focused, or homeowner-friendly.
- Turn rough notes, client comments, SEO direction, project details, calls, and existing website information into polished website copy.
- Write short replacement sections, service descriptions, calls-to-action, process sections, review-based sections, and other website copy when needed.
- Create content that supports SEO without sounding forced, repetitive, keyword-stuffed, or robotic.
Editing & Content Improvement
- Edit content written by outsourced writers, AI tools, internal team members, or clients.
- Improve generic or AI-sounding content by adding client-specific details, better structure, stronger wording, clearer examples, and more natural flow.
- Check content for grammar, clarity, repetition, factual accuracy, tone, keyword use, formatting, and overall quality.
- Shorten, expand, rewrite, merge, or restructure content depending on project needs.
- Review existing website content and suggest improvements where the copy feels outdated, unclear, too thin, duplicated, or misaligned with the client’s current services.
- Make sure all content matches the client’s real business and does not include false claims, incorrect service details, unsupported promises, or irrelevant information.
SEO Content Support
- Work with the SEO team to understand target keywords, search intent, page purpose, and content priorities.
- Analyze website copy to determine what is relevant, what is ranking, what needs to be replaced, and what needs to be improved.
- Create and edit content for SEO campaigns, including service pages, location pages, blogs, and supporting content additions.
- Make sure content answers the topic properly and provides useful information for both users and search engines.
- Check that new content does not simply repeat existing pages or compete with the wrong page on the client’s website.
- Use keywords naturally while keeping the content readable and client-focused.
- Research competitors, ranking pages, service areas, and industry topics to understand what the content needs to cover.
- Support SEO best practices, including keyword structure, on-page optimization, internal linking, topical authority, and content depth.
AI-Assisted Content Workflow
- Use AI tools responsibly to support drafting, outlining, rewriting, brainstorming, and bulk content tasks.
- Edit all AI-assisted content carefully before it is used.
- Remove generic wording, filler sections, repeated phrases, vague claims, and content that sounds too automated.
- Add real client information, examples, proof points, service details, and human judgment to every piece of AI-assisted content.
- Make sure final content feels written for the specific client, not copied from a general industry template.
Website & Team Support
- Prepare clear content notes for designers or developers when new sections, page additions, or replacement copy need to be uploaded.
- Provide headings, body copy, calls-to-action, image suggestions, internal links, outbound links, and supporting references where needed.
- Review uploaded content to make sure the page matches the approved copy and makes sense visually.
- Suggest small layout or structure improvements when the content would work better in a different format.
- Work with project managers, SEO specialists, designers, developers, and outsourced writers to support content-related tasks.
- Communicate content issues clearly, such as missing details, weak source material, duplicated topics, or content that needs more client input.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience writing SEO content, website content, UX content, or digital marketing content.

- Ability to write content that supports user action, inquiries, bookings, or conversions.
- Experience using AI tools for content support, with the ability to edit and improve AI-assisted drafts.
- Good judgment when reviewing content quality, accuracy, and relevance.
- Ability to stay organized, manage deadlines, and work with multiple client projects at once.
- Portfolio or writing samples are required.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Diploma or degree in digital marketing, communications, journalism, English, business, or a related field.
- Education, training, or certification in SEO, digital marketing, content marketing, UX writing, analytics, or related areas.
- Knowledge of AEO, including Google AI Overviews, featured snippets, and People Also Ask.
- Knowledge of GEO, including how content may be cited, quoted, or recommended by AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini.
- Understanding of the buyer’s journey and how content supports users from research to decision-making.
- Experience reviewing content performance and suggesting improvements based on SEO goals, engagement, or conversions.
