Position Overview

The Food Dudes are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Pastry Chef to join our team at Hotel X Toronto. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with a passion for excellence in pastry production and event preparation. The Senior Pastry Chef will play a key role in overseeing daily production, managing pastry operations and supporting the development of new talent within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute all aspects of pastry production and event preparation, ensuring the highest quality and presentation standards.
Oversee early morning and day-shift operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of production schedules.
Manage ingredient ordering, inventory control and coordination with suppliers to maintain product availability and quality.
Train, mentor and support junior pastry staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
Maintain and update pastry recipes, costing sheets, and production guides, ensuring consistency across all products and events.
Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef and broader culinary team to develop new menu items, seasonal features, and custom event offerings.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards, and uphold Food Dudes’ and Hotel X’s brand standards.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Contribute to a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-end or large-scale pastry production kitchen (hotel, catering or fine dining experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of modern pastry techniques, ingredients and presentation standards.
Proven ability to manage a production team and train junior staff effectively.
Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
A positive attitude, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Experience with recipe development and documentation.
Food Handler Certification considered an asset.

Schedule & Working Conditions

Primarily early morning and daytime shifts, with flexibility based on event demands.
Full-time, on-site role located at Hotel X Toronto, operating under The Food Dudes culinary program.
