About Us
BLT Construction is a leading Canadian general contractor with over 30 years of experience in delivering high-quality commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects.

We’re currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager at BLT, you will ensure a safe and compliant work environment across a range of construction projects and office environments. Reporting to the Vice President and Directors of Construction, you will oversee health and safety performance for the company while supporting project management functions.

Projects range in scope from $1M–$20M ground-up developments to commercial fit-outs, shell and core builds, and high-end residential construction. Your primary focus will be the implementation and management of industry-leading health and safety practices across the company, including management of the COR Health & Safety Program. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities

· Minimum 5 years of experience in construction site health and safety.

· Diploma, certificate or coursework in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset but not required with equivalent field experience.

· Strong working knowledge of Ontario’s OHSA and Construction Projects Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91).

· Ability to conduct Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), safety inspections, and interpret safety legislation.

· Experience with Health and safety reporting software (4safeCom, Procore, WSIB) is an asset.

· Thorough understanding of the COR program and experience in element generation, maintenance and auditing.

Requirements

· Lead and manage the implementation of health and safety policies & procedures across the construction sites.

· Conduct periodic site inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.

· Maintain and update all COR site safety documentation in conjunction with site safety representatives.

· Lead company H&S policy, program and COR implementation for the company.

· Lead annual COR auditing completion.

· Liaise with Ministry of Labour inspectors, WSIB, and internal teams during inspections and investigations.

· Investigate incidents, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.

· Promote a proactive and positive approach to health and safety.

· Experience creating and implementing Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), including coordination with local services when required.

· COR Essentials Training & Certification

· COR Internal Auditor

· Working at Heights (WAH)

· First Aid & CPR – Level C

· Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification

· WHMIS 2015 (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)

· Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training

· AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)

· Supervisor Violence and Harassment Training
