Junior Quality Engineer

Location: Concord, ON
Term: Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $55 - $60 K per year

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quality Engineer to support quality assurance activities across multiple manufacturing plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for first-off inspections, in-process inspections, root cause analysis, documentation control, continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting corrective action processes. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

The Junior Quality Engineer will work closely with management, production teams, multiple departments, and other engineers to ensure quality standards are maintained and continuously improved. The candidate will also provide support to engineering teams and assist with various technical and quality-related projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform first-off inspections and in-process inspections to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications
Measure parts using precision measuring equipment and inspection tools
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and support implementation of corrective actions
Manage and support NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) and CAR (Corrective Action Requests)
Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and reports
Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for process improvement
Participate in continuous improvement and quality improvement initiatives
Prepare and submit daily and weekly quality reports
Support quality activities across multiple plant locations as required
Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to resolve quality concerns
Ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer requirements
Liaison with external service providers and suppliers of raw material and finished goods.
Coordinating with Purchasing the supplier approval process

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
Strong understanding of manufacturing and quality processes
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T
Knowledge of inspection methods and measuring equipment
Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Computer literate
Able to work in an environment with equipment and machine noise
Able to read, understand, and interpret labels, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for chemicals used in the production process
