About Vallari Decor

Vallari Decor is a Canadian small business specializing in décor products for weddings, events, homes, and commercial spaces. We sell a variety of decorative products including greenery, garlands, floral décor, centerpieces, vases, event structures, and decorative accessories.

Much of our growth to date has come through e-commerce and online marketplaces. As the business continues to evolve, we would like to build a stronger and more consistent presence on social media and better showcase our products through creative digital content.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for a creative, independent and self-motivated Social Media & Digital Content Intern who would be excited to help shape Vallari Decor's social media presence.

This is not an internship where you'll be handed a fully developed social media strategy and a list of posts to create each day. We're a small business, and we're looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative, researching what works, experimenting with ideas, and helping us determine what our social media presence should look like.

You'll work directly with the owner of Vallari Decor, who can provide extensive knowledge about the business, products and customers. However, when it comes to social media, we're specifically looking for an intern who is comfortable bringing their own ideas to the table.

If you see a trend that could work for one of our products, we'd love you to try it. If you think our Instagram needs to change, tell us why. If you have an idea for a TikTok or Reel, we'd like you to take the initiative to create it.

There is a lot of room in this position to experiment and make the role your own.

What You Might Work On

Review Vallari Decor's existing social media presence and identify opportunities for improvement.
Research what other successful décor, wedding, event and e-commerce brands are doing on social media.
Develop ideas for Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook and other relevant platforms.
Create Reels, TikToks, product videos, styling content, behind-the-scenes content and other short-form videos.
Photograph and film products from our inventory for use in social media and online listings.
Turn existing product photos, customer images and business content into new social media content.
Develop a realistic content calendar and posting strategy for the business.
Write captions and develop hashtags, keywords and calls to action.
Research trends and identify opportunities for Vallari Decor to participate in them.
Experiment with different types of content and review which approaches generate the most engagement.
Help create content surrounding new products, seasonal décor, weddings and events.
Suggest ways that social media could drive customers to our online store and product listings.
Explore tools such as Canva, CapCut and AI-assisted content tools that could help make content creation easier and more efficient.
Help us develop systems and templates that can continue to be used after the internship.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in someone who is a self-starter.

You don't need years of professional social media experience, but you should be someone who naturally pays attention to social media and has ideas about what makes people stop scrolling, watch, click, save or share something.

You may be a good fit if you:

Enjoy creating social media content and coming up with new ideas.
Are comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
Don't need detailed instructions for every task.
Are willing to research something you don't know and figure it out.
Understand or are interested in platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest.
Have a good visual eye.
Are interested in photography, video, editing, marketing, e-commerce, weddings, events or décor.
Are comfortable testing ideas and learning from what works and what doesn't.
Can explain your ideas and aren't afraid to suggest that we try something differently.
Have experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe tools or similar platforms — or are willing to learn them.

What This Internship Offers

Because Vallari Decor is a small business, you'll have considerably more creative freedom than you might have in a traditional marketing internship.

Rather than simply executing someone else's social media plan, you'll have the opportunity to help create one.

You'll have access to real products and inventory that can be photographed, styled and filmed, along with an existing business and customer base to work from.

You'll be able to test ideas, see how real audiences respond, and build portfolio examples that demonstrate not only your ability to create content, but your ability to think strategically and take ownership of a project.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 per week
