HF Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to championing culturally rooted mental healthcare for people from East and Southeast Asian communities in the Greater Toronto Area. This role sits at the heart of that commitment. As our dedicated People & Culture professional, you will help HF Care become the employer of choice in the GTA non-profit sector, building a workplace where every person feels seen, supported, and rewarded in ways that are meaningful and fair.

About the Role

HF Care is at a pivotal moment in its organizational journey, strengthening our core by investing in talent, equity, and long-term resilience. This is a hands-on, high-impact generalist role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain. You will be the sole dedicated People & Culture professional and a trusted partner to leadership and staff alike.

What You Will Do

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

Manage full-cycle, culturally responsive recruiting, from inclusive job postings and resume screening to interviews and offers
Develop and maintain job descriptions that accurately reflect competencies and remove credential barriers
Build diverse candidate pipelines using community-connected platforms and culturally inclusive outreach
Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements

Onboarding & Offboarding

Design and facilitate welcoming, culturally sensitive onboarding experiences that set every new employee up for success
Manage offboarding with care: exit interviews, documentation, and access management
Ensure smooth knowledge transfer and a dignified exit experience for departing staff

Benefits & Total Rewards Administration

Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries (health and dental, RRSP, EAP)
Coordinate open enrollment, benefits changes, and vendor communications
Support the annual Total Rewards presentation and employee communications
Maintain accurate, confidential benefits and compensation records

Employee Relations & Performance

Support the development of and continuously improve annual performance objectives and the associated review framework
Provide fair, consistent, and compassionate guidance to managers on performance management and coaching
Handle employee relations matters with discretion, equity, and thorough documentation
Support workplace investigations and conflict resolution in line with HF Care's values
Help build and sustain a culture of psychological safety, feedback, and belonging

Training & Development

Coordinate mandatory training (WHMIS, AODA, workplace safety, cultural responsiveness) and track completions
Support the development of staff learning pathways
Identify skill gaps and connect staff to professional development and tuition support opportunities

People & Culture Policy, Compliance & Architecture

Maintain and evolve the employee handbook, People & Culture policies, and SOPs in alignment with Ontario legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code)
Support the implementation and ongoing application of HF Care's Compensation and Pay Transparency framework
Ensure all roles are reviewed annually against the GTA Living Wage commitment and current market benchmarks
Maintain accurate employee records and support payroll coordination with Finance

Required

3–6 years of People & Culture generalist experience, including full-cycle recruitment and employee relations
Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, AODA)
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in People & Culture practice
Strong interpersonal skills — able to build trust across diverse communities and language backgrounds
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office 365
Post-secondary education in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent lived and professional experience

Assets — Not Requirements

CHRP or CHRL designation (or in progress)
Experience in a non-profit, healthcare, social services, or community-based organization
Proficiency in one additional language—particularly those spoken in Asian communities (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Khmer)—is an asset
Familiarity with PIPEDA or provincial privacy legislation; experience supporting a Privacy Officer function is a strong asset
Lived experience in communities served by HF Care

Our Commitment To You

Salary of $65,000–$75,000 based on experience
Up to 6% employer RRSP match — among the most competitive in the GTA non-profit sector
