Job Summary

Join the team at Rube's Rice, a reliable, family-owned business that has proudly served customers in the St. Lawrence Market for over 65 years. We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Retail Store Associate who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment and takes pride in providing excellent service.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers with product selection and answer questions.
Bag bulk food items accurately while following food safety and hygiene standards.
Operate the cash register and process cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
Stock shelves and refill bulk bins to ensure products are available and well presented.
Rotate inventory and monitor product quality and freshness.
Complete daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, and maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary store.
Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
Help customers locate products and provide recommendations when needed.
Follow all company policies, health and safety regulations, and food handling procedures.

Qualifications

Requirement to know English
Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and managing stock counts
Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, dependable, and team-oriented.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25–50 lbs.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities to prioritize tasks efficiently
Knowledge of POS systems, merchandising techniques, and customer service best practices
Ability to work well in a team environment while also demonstrating independence when needed
Positive attitude with strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced retail setting
