Weekend Caregiver – Palliative Home Care

$25.00 per hour | Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 9-Hour Shifts

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, patient, and energetic Caregiver to provide personal care and companionship to a non-verbal senior receiving palliative care in a private home in Truro, Nova Scotia.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who takes pride in providing respectful, dignified, and compassionate care in a beautiful, comfortable private home with a peaceful, garden-like property. The home is a very pleasant and welcoming environment, and the position offers a more personal and relaxed setting than a facility-based care environment.

The successful candidate will be caring for an individual who is non-verbal and requires assistance with daily personal care and activities. The individual is not currently receiving medication administration as part of this position.

Schedule & Pay

· Friday, Saturday & Sunday

· 9-hour shifts

· $25.00 per hour

· Consistent weekend schedule

· Private home setting in Truro

Responsibilities

· Provide compassionate and respectful personal care

· Assist with daily living activities

· Provide companionship and emotional support

· Assist with positioning and mobility as required

· Prepare and serve meals

· Perform light housekeeping and tidying related to the household and client’s care

· Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment

· Observe and communicate any changes in the client’s condition or needs

· Provide attentive one-on-one care and companionship

· Respect the client’s privacy, dignity, and personal routines

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

· Patient, caring, and compassionate

· Reliable and dependable

· Physically capable of providing hands-on care

· Comfortable working with a non-verbal individual

· Comfortable providing palliative care and end-of-life support

· Able to work independently in a private home

· Attentive to details and able to recognize changes in the client’s condition

· Respectful and trustworthy

· Comfortable preparing meals and doing light household duties

· Positive, personable, and able to bring warmth and a good sense of humor to the home

Experience

Previous experience in home care, senior care, palliative care, hospice care, personal care, or a similar caregiving role is an asset.

Formal healthcare training is an asset but relevant caregiving experience and the right personality are equally important.
