Maintenance Technician - Senáḵw

Fitzrovia is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team and manage a landmark development, Senáḵw, in the Vancouver Market. The Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Fitzrovia team, responsible for responding to residents' service needs and ensuring our luxury apartment communities maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is essential in delivering superior customer service, ensuring smooth move-ins, maintaining resident satisfaction, and addressing service requests promptly and professionally.

As we are a highly collaborative team, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site full-time. The regular work schedule for this role will be Tuesday – Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off.

Responsibilities:
- Provide a 5-star living experience by delivering exceptional customer service to all prospects, residents, and guests. Champion initiatives that strengthen resident satisfaction, elevate brand reputation, and reflect Sḵwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw values
- Respond to resident service requests promptly and professionally, ensuring all maintenance needs are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption
- Complete, update, and maintain work orders through the online property management portal, ensuring tasks are accurately documented and completed within specified timelines
- Basic plumbing such as fixtures, faucets, toilets, supply lines, and drains
- HVAC basics including filter changes, thermostat troubleshooting, and fan coil units, with support from the Maintenance Supervisor for more complex repairs
- General electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, and light fixtures within scope and comfort level
- Carpentry and finishing work including doors, hardware, drywall patching, trim, and touch-up repairs
- Appliance troubleshooting for fridges, dishwashers, ranges, washers, and dryers
- Prepare market-ready apartments through suite turnovers, including cleaning, patching, painting, replacing fixtures, and ensuring all components are fully operational before resident move-in
- Paint suites, common areas, and touch-up surfaces to maintain a clean and presentable appearance throughout the property
- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections of mechanical rooms, rooftop equipment, building systems, common areas, and amenities to identify and address issues before they escalate
- Maintain pools, hot tubs, amenity spaces, grounds, and dog parks, ensuring all areas remain clean, safe, functional, and free of debris
- Assist housekeeping or cleaning staff as needed with sanitation, garbage cleanup, and maintaining overall property presentation standards
- Respond to after-hours emergency calls and participate in on-call rotations as scheduled, addressing issues such as leaks, lockouts, HVAC failures, and life safety concerns in a timely manner
- Communicate clearly and professionally with residents when entering suites and upon completion of work, consistently delivering a high-quality resident experience
- Report major maintenance concerns, property damage, life safety issues, and budget-impacting repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager
- Safeguard and maintain company tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies, ensuring they remain in safe and proper working condition
- Remain informed on applicable provincial, municipal, and federal housing regulations, building codes, and maintenance-related compliance requirements
- Represent the company professionally in all interactions with residents, coworkers, contractors, and members of the public
Qualifications and Experiences:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1+ years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in residential, purpose-built rental, or hotel work environments
- Proficiency in various maintenance functions, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting. Previous experience in construction, HVAC, and plumbing is preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, coworkers, and management, as well as for writing reports and correspondence
- Ability to use property management software, online portals, and other digital tools effectively for managing work orders and maintenance tasks
- Understanding of the safe use of cleaning agents and equipment, along with knowledge of life safety issues
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as policy manuals and safety guidelines and write routine reports
